Driving Los Angeles to Las Vegas?

I am planning on driving to Las Vegas from the LA Area on 9/8 or early 9/9. I am reading there are some major I-15 construction closures but I'm not sure if they are correct.

Help?

Nothing major just traffic and more traffic except very late at night or very very early in morning

The road closures are intermittent but check the CalTrans link below for road conditions before you leave. The last closure on I-15 was between Bailey Road in Mountain Pass and Nipton Road for blasting.

I too am planning to go to Las Vegas a week before you do.

Stop at Buger King on Main Street in Barstow and get some coupons that you may find useful. Kinda needed the Flamingo coupon the last time.

This is the update so far from 10am to 2pm it will be closed due to rock blasting tuesday and thursday, you will be free to travel on any days but those..

LAS VEGAS—Transportation officials say rock blasting will force closures twice a week for the next 10 weeks on a stretch of Interstate 15 near the California-Nevada state line.

Caltrans says travel lanes will be closed at 10 a.m. for up to 90 minutes every Tuesday and Thursday morning between Bailey and Nipton roads near Wheaton Springs, Calif.

Motorists heading to Las Vegas are being encouraged to wait in Baker, Calif.

Drivers traveling to California are being advised to wait in the state line town of Primm.

The $91 million project is to widen about 12 miles of I-15 in the area through Mountain Pass.

The current schedule of blasting is expected to be completed by the end of October.

The entire project should be finished in fall 2010.

Yep closures at the final 35 miles into Vegas. Just before Primm!

BLASTING to expand the hwy on that mini mtn pass.

Take i40 to i95 and come in the backway to Vegas. Pass by CHevron gas station at Intersection to Laughlin. Next Chevron Gas station in Searchlight, NV. One Terribles casino, with McDonalds. Skip the Mcdonals and eat at the other original casino eatery at the four way stop. Just before you back up a hill. On right side.

Have mapquest mapped this out for you.

It's always hit and miss. Sometimes it's 4.5 hours and others it's 8
