I'm trying to find a dog trainer that will come to my home and work with my dog.?

I have an 8 week old beagle puppy who has all the usual problems but also bad separation anxiety. All I can find online is guides or online classes. I want a trainer that will accually work with my dog.

I saw your other question, everything will be harder for a dog taken from its litter at 4 weeks old, but you can still have a great dog/puppy if you put a little more effort in

There should be a trainer in your area, check the yellow pages. until you find someone I strongly suggest you crate your baby during the day. Crates actually relieve anxiety in many cases, giving your dog a smaller, safe space. Having taken the "positive puppy" training method to work with shelter dogs (for the past 10 years) I can assure you that crating is not a bad thing. Leave a crate open with a favorite toy, water, snuggy blanket and your dog will become comfortable with it. Leave the house for short periods after closing him in until he is comfortable with it.

    Hello Jessie,

Congrats on the new Puppy :)

I think its a waste of money to deal with those dog trainers that come to your home. There are a lot of E-books Instructing you step by step to train your dog with no extra difficulties. After a reccomendation from a good friend, I have tried one for my lab. I am still in the middle, but I got to say that in the meantime, it looks very nice, and my puppy started listening (for the first time) to me. I wrote my opinion about that, here is a link, check it out: http://sites.google.com/site/simpledogstraining/

Good luck and let me hear what you think,

    Cheers,

at 8 weeks he is still a new born puppy. new in the world and just left everything he knows. and puppies cry a lot. I doubt this is separation anxiety. You cannot have had him long to conclude he suffers with separation anxiety since puppies only leave at 8 weeks, and if you got him earlier than 8 weeks, that is the root of your problem.

Your puppy is essentially a baby, babies cry and puppies cry

He doesn't have separation anxiety, and he/she doesn't have any problems yet. He/she is a puppy...plain & simple. If you want to get a trainer, wait until he's/she's 12 weeks old at least.

Take your dog to puppy training classes. The trainer will discuss that there. The thing about training is to give YOU the keys to train your own dogs.
