Is anyone having problems with Virgin Mobile today?
I keep getting network unavailable everytime I try to send a text message or pic message. Thanks.

This is an ongoing chronic problem with VM and their texting. I've seen consistent reports off and on since at least April when they introduced Unlimited Texter's delight, the wireless industry's first standalone text/messaging only plan. I think it sucks if you rely on texts for 90%/most of your communication and it gets crippled. I think VM has too many new unlimited texters so their system is overloaded. This is what happened to Boost mobile's texting too when they signed up 750,000 new users in three months on their unlimited plan. It overloaded the system. Boost is still having trouble And they just added almost another million this quarter. VM lost people, but I am sure they gained a lot of texters.
Sprint is taking over. They bought out VM last month. I am hoping for many improvements, text/messaging among them. If not, you can leave for Att (great phone choice), or Verizon Prepaid (better coverage). You can sign up for their basic flatrate 25 cents a minute voiceplan and add an unlimited $20 messaging package much like VM's except no email. Other then that and the higher minute rate, it should be pretty much the same plan. . The great thing is that even though Att/Verizon prepaids text/messaging plans are not stand alone, you don't pay any money at all for voice minutes unless you use them, making them almost just like VMs plan without the texts not going through.
The beauty of prepaid is if they keep screwing up, you can get one of a few dozens of other companies with little effort just like that.

I was having the same problem! I've noticed it a few times. Annoying isnt it? I think so. (: Overall I think Virgin Mobile is good, but its the few things like this where they lose people. I must admit that thier Customer Service is great though, I ALWAYS hear back from them within 24 hours. I'm hoping when sprint takes over that they will get rid of the few glitches like these. It'd sure be nice.

I tried to use my phone to check my account to see how many minutes I have left, and it says "error: network down." I went to their website and it says:
"Things are a little busy here... So we had to go offline for a bit. Sorry about that. Hang tight and try back a little later. Virgin Mobile's Web site is down for scheduled maintenance. We should be back online soon. Please try back later. Sorry for the inconvenience."
Been like this for hours, hrr.
