What to eat for lunches????

I'm going back to school soon, and this year, I wanted to bring my own lunches so I can control how many calories I have. I want to try to keep it under 300 calories (310 calories max). Any good lunch ideas in this range?

Fresh veggies are going to be your best friend in this endeavor, I think. Your second best friend might well be light bread. In these suggestions, I am assuming some form of no-calorie beverage such as water or Crystal Lite.

How about lettuce-lunchmeat roll-ups. Use red or green leaf or romaine lettuce, rinse off 3-4 of the big outer leaves. Choose a low-fat deli meat such as a smoked ham or turkey. Roll a slice of meat up inside each lettuce leaf. Bring a Wishbone Salad Spritzer to spritz some dressing on for flavor. Or get wild and wrap a pickle spear in the middle of the meat. You still have enough calories left to include a serving of fruit such as grapes (the really dark ones are a current favorite of mine) or a plum, plus some low-cal yogurt, and maybe some other fresh veggies such as cucumber slices, celery sticks, or cherry tomatoes.

Another good idea is a slice of lite bread (Sarah Lee 45 Cal. Wheat is my current favorite) with a thin smear of butter, a string cheese, some cherry tomatoes, and some grapes - this is one of my favorite easy lunches.

If your cafeteria allows you access to a microwave to heat stuff up, check out some of Progresso's lighter soups - there are some really good ones, that are about 100 calories for 1 cup serving - so you can think about whether you want 1 or 2 cups of soup then add some fruit or a 100-Cal snack of some kind, such as Goldfish - or even better, some fresh fruit or veggies.

If you like low fat peanut butter, you can easily bring a peanut butter sandwich on lite bread - depending on how thick you like to spread the peanut butter, you will have room in your calorie count for some fruit spread such as Polaner's All Fruit, plus some fresh veggies.

More sandwich ideas include lite bread, low-fat lunchmeat (2-4 oz), lettuce, cucumber, and a bit of lite mayo.

I've been tracking my calorie counts on FitDay Free Calorie Counter http://www.fitday.com/ - and some days, when I've used a lot of fresh veggies and lean meats, find it a challenge to consume enough calories to prevent my metabolism from going into starvation mode. Best of luck to you in planning healthy meals.

Easy... 4-5 slices of Low sodium Turkey, a healthy tablespoon of Hummus (Sabra is my go to brand), Crunchy lettuce on Arnold Sandwich thins. Since the bread only has 100 calories, feel free to toss on a couple of extra slices of turkey. Drizzle with olive oil and hot sauce and/or fresh ground pepper and you have a money sandwich.

You can flip this sandwich by replacing the hummus with spicy mustard and a slice of alpine lace muenster cheese. Or throw a tomato on there, avacado, red onion... whatever toppings float your boat! If you must have mayo, Hellmans makes a low calorie version with Canola oil. Just be easy with it, and you should be good.

If you can fit a couple of Sun Chips (original flavor only) in there, they have a surprising amount fiber.

And don't drink anything but water (Save those calories for food)! The only time I ever drink anything thats not water is if its going to give me a buzz.

    Hope this helped.

An attractive school lunch list should consist of at least something to drink, eat and maybe even a snack.

    1 pint of orange juice

    -Usually box like & 70 Cal's

1 Bar of Light and Crispy Cereal Bar

    -Usually in 3 flavors & 90 Cal's

1 3/4 oz bag of baked Doritos

    -Small Bag like & 90 Cal's

By the way a normal person should it 2,000 at least unless you have a strict diet, eating more or less that what your body mass Index can handle or needs is health hazardous.

try turkey wraps or sandwiches? turkey is a very low fat meat and full of protein so roll it up in a tortilla with some lettuce, tomato, or whatever toppings you like, a low fat cheese slice, loy fat dressings, roll it all the way up and fold the ends in or, slice the roll up into 1 1/2 " rolls and place a toothpick down the middle of each one... yum!!!

baked or lays light chips too or some kind of fruit or vegetables

    grilled chicken ceasar salad!

look in your grocery store for some low fat asian rice bowl microwavable dishes, some are actually really good if you like chinese...

just snack on stuff like grapes, strawberries, watermelon... their mostly water and arent many calories at all.... also most nuts like almonds and pecans have healthy fats thqat you want so snack on those as well ;)

Walnuts, String Cheese and an orange

Yogurt, Peanut butter on corn tortilla, grapes

Romaine Lettuce, cubed turkey and vinegar with cheddar crumbles

Avacado, celery and peanut butter, apple

The easiest thing to take for lunch would be cereal, yogurt, nuts, sun chips, fruit.

Point is, get your protein, calcium and fruit. Ialso addressed the need for Omega 3, which helps with tummy fat.

Rolls. Wrap Asparagus spears, Seafood sticks, Shredded chicken, etc in a slice of buttered bread at the diagonal.
