A unique location for an engagement photo session?

Soon, me and my fiancee will be having our engagement photos taken, and I am looking for a unique location. I am a photographer and a painter, and he is a computer game designer, we are both very creative and have a funky "couple style" so the generic botanic garden, field, park, etc. is just not appealing to us.

Does anyone have any ideas for unique engagement photo session locations?

Laser Tag or Paintball arenas---how cool would be if every disagreement you have as a couple, was dealt with in arena?A great theme would be "the battle of the sexes".

In a room with a backdrop of a Legend of Zelda poster ---(sorry very corny) Dress up as Link and Princess Zelda and react scenes from the game.

An empty room---Gather some washable paint and wear all white clothes. Then attempt to paint each other with paintbrushes or fingerprint each others faces.(might want to do it in a room you don't mind getting paint on)

The Subway or metro (only if you live near a city that has a public transportation system, and make sure ahead of time you can shoot there).---I always thought it was romantic in those movies where two people fall in love in the middle of waiting for their train. It's so unexpected and random. But, there is a sort of beauty to be underground in a dim lit place.

Underwater(probably not possible, but a neat idea)---take pictures of yourself completely submerge underwater in a pool because everything looks cool underwater.(example-----> http://sugarock99.deviantart.com/art/Alice-1294625... )

At a farm---most farms are beautiful places to visit during any season. There's a closeness to nature and a gentleness of a rural lifestyle. And it could be a great chance to buy fresh grown produce and maybe homemade bake goods.(example---> http://www.flickr.com/photos/lallisig/3505023005/i... )

Why not take the photos at an art gallery or museum? While you might not be able to include the actual art exhibitions in the pictures (copyright, etc) you might be able to hint at it, like including the edge of a picture frame in the background and the actual facility itself (I'm thinking those little rope barriers would make a cute set up for you guys).

For a less "funky" more "classical location how about an empty art studio using the easels as props, or a ballet studio with hardwood floors - the mirrors might pose a problem with the flash but the look would be pretty dramatic if you could work it out.

How about a McDonald's play area - you know the ones for kids - you bring a camera along to the shoot and make it look like you're holding out one arm (holding the camera) to take a shot of you both - but of course the pro photog is shooting you guys doing it to capture you in your surroundings. Games/play and photog, no?

That or someplace where the two of you can be shot in front of a green screen with some fun background superimposed behind you ...

recreate a game scene (costume and all) and use frames to make the stills.

now that I read Irishchica's answer, I'm thinking of a beach setting on top of a building (I know some buildings have a swimming pool on the roof). my first idea was the beach anyway, until I read you don't want the stereotypical stuff. but I think the seaside has strong symbolic value (of eternity) and is a playful environment.

An awesome futuristic building (for him) and a view of the ocean (for you, and your painting/photog interests). Something where you see the building and ocean views in one shot...tricky photog work, but I know you could manage it.

I agree with the other user, a museum or art gallery would be perfect.
