Tilapia for dinner ?

How do you like to prepare it and what would be good simple side dishes?

I usually just broil it with a bit of lemon juice, salt and pepper.

Update:

Oh that does sound good! Thanks Sally!

Have you ever seen the Dirty Jobs Episode with the Tilapia?

The tilapia eat the striped bass poo in the water to keep everything clean. I hope you enjoy your dinner.

I'd not change anything. Tilapia is a delicate fish and you do it perfectly!

If you really want a change, then you can always bake it, or grill it. Maybe trying different spices, like an orange ginger glaze?

    Glaze

    6 tablespoons olive oil

    1 tablespoon grated ginger

    1 tablespoon grated orange zest

    6 tablespoons freshly orange juice

    salt and pepper, to taste

Just mix it all with a whisk and marinate the fish for 30 minutes before cooking.

Coconut milk, dill, lemon-butter, lime and pineapple are all good flavors to use too!

Side dishes....sauteed veggies, pasta salad either cold or warm, green salad, spinach salad. I like using honey-ginger baby carrots with tilapia. Try using allrecipes.com for some ideas...they usually have good recipes and you can search using your favorite ingredient.

an person-friendly failproof way of cooking tilapia is this recipe: Grease a baking dish with oil or butter. place the fish interior the dish. Sprinkle bread crumbs over the fish to disguise properly. chop up some coriander/cilantro or parsley and sprinkle gently over the fish, then spoon garlic butter over the fillets. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes counting on the thickness. Serve with mashed potatoes and peas/corn.

Roy told me once to make individual tents from foil and put each piece of fish in it's own lil tent. Then put lemon pepper and salt and a few diced tomatos. Put it on the grill. I've never done it but it sounds good. Serve over rice.

I lay the fish in a buttered pan, then put in enough pineapple juice and blush wine to cover, add cayenne pepper, chili powder and cumin, plus a tiny bit of onion, garlic, herbs and salt.

Bring it to a gentle boil until the fish is poached.

Delicious, and the reduced liquid can be used as a sauce if you like.

Not one og my favorite fishs', but if you want to try something different, try putting a can of diced tomatoes and a can of mandarin orages in a skillet (with juices) and maybe add some diced onions and/or garlic, then place the fillets on top, cover, and steam the fish in the tomatoe/orange juice. Make some boil in the bag rice, serve fish with tomatoes and oranges on top of bed of rice with a nice Kim Crawford sauvingon blanc, well chilled, followed by a cigar and scotch on the back deck, and fellatio....perfect evening!

I would do what Rob said only I'd serve chablis (Carlo Rossi is inexpensive but very good) and I'd insist on cunnilingus afterward. Then I'd have ice cream.
