How to deal with Neighbors from .....?

My neighbors call the code enforcement on me every week!

I moved into my house in October and have worked hard to fix and dress it up. We live in a slightly run down neighborhood and I am by far the nicest house in the addition--code enforcer made that comment. I put up a fence planted some trees and bushes, put up trellis--landscaped like crazy.

My neighbors house sits slightly higher than mine and they built it farther back--so there house starts where my garage begins. All their windows face my yard. They said my landscaping makes them look like peeping toms. I just want privacy in my own back yard.

I have been called on because of my trellis--which i had to redo because it was attached to the fence and the fence can not be higher than 6ft. Moved it away and they are still not happy. They called on me because I am having bushes going in that are 8-12ft tall--which will eliminate there visual of my pool but I had that approved by the code people so they can not do anything about that. Now they want me to turn my fence around because a month before I put my fence up--back in October 08--they changed they rules on which way the supports can face. So now I have to pay an extra fee to have it changed.

The other latest gripe is the weeds that are growing between my privacy fence and their chain link--before I put my fence up she told me to put my fence two feet away, which I did, now there are weeds. They want me to cut them and I refuse, it is her land according to her and I will not cut her grass. Screw that.

It is just one thing after another and I am sick of being bullied and the code people are sick of calling and coming out--what can I do With out going to jail to show them I will not be pushed anymore?

I thought about sending her a note in the mail with out my name or address that says:

You may b!+ch and complain but in the end we will win the game

You are old and tired and your next step will be through the ring of fire

You may push and shove but we will rise above--

We are here to stay do what you may

We've had it up to here--do you hear what I say?

Put an end to this today!

Don't send the note. Even if you don't sign it, she will know it came from you, and this is a neighbor you have to live next to. Life can be ugly enough without an inflamed neighborhood feud. Just keep in mind that there is never going to be any pleasing this person no matter what you do, so try to reach a compromise with the city code and by law enforcers.

Man you think its bad where you live?? HAHA i live in Oakland California if I step outside there will be multiple gangs just standing everywhere, 5 guys on one corner, 5 more in the middle of the street stopping cars and 10 more in front of the corner store. They wear those t-shirts that hang down to their knees it is a lot like the HBO show "the wire" great show by the way. A female drug dealer would not last a second out here. Although the cops just raided the near by housing projects and arrested over 100 drug dealers and they chalked up 37 murders to these guys in the last 2 years! I am saving to move to a better neighborhood I think you should aswell, good people like us don't deserve this.

Did they sign an agreement with you on how to build the fence? Who changed the rules in oct'08 those neighbors? Do nothing and let them take you to court.Explain to the judge how unreasonable they are and I'm sure the judge will see through them. They sound miserable and bored and trying to find ways to piss you off.Good luck.If you make any more renos have them sign an agreement

as far as the poem goes, you might as well sign it as they will know it came from you

Ok, for sure don't send the letter in the mail, that is just childish. You don't want to stoop to their level. I would put them in their place...in a nasty nice kind of way. Lay down the rules. I would find things wrong with their yard and go to them and tell them your findings and that if they don't stop calling on you, then you will be calling on them. I know how you feel. I have CRAZY neighbors to. Good Luck.
