what rules would you change about the nba?
personally I'm fed up with how offensive players get so much leniency in our modern age. the eradication of handchecking, all the ticky-tack fouls, shooters jumping or running into defenders to get calls.......all of these are a joke. I love the nba but I can't stand some of the rules.

Yeah I agree w/ you, I hate the hand-checking rules. I don't want to see a game decided at the free-throw line. If it were up to me I would allow a lot more contact. Lets go back to the days of Jordan & the bad boy Pistons. Jordan would average about 50 w/ the modern hand checking rules. (I also hate it when a guy pump fakes, gets the defender into the air, and jumps into him. Its not a foul if you jump into the other guy.)

My thing is if it's a foul in the fist minute of the game, it's a foul in the last minute... if its a flagrant in the first game of the year , its a flagrant in the last game.
I would also like to see the charge/block rule get cleaned up... sometimes they only look at the players upper part, but the rule states that one you leave the ground, you can't move over to avoid it, to its a blocking. Look at the feet too. I think the hand-checking thing makes it easier for the good offensive players, cuz bad defensive players will lean into it and the MJ's and Kobe's will just spin off and will get to the basket faster and easier. The big guys who are fast will have it even easier, weight makes a big difference!
The Flagrant rule needs to be buffed out too. Not everything to the head or every time someone hits the ground nasty, its a Flagrant.
Free throw's should be taken in less the n10 seconds like FIBA rules.
After 2OT's they should shorten it to 3min or free throws cuz I've never seen that happen... 4OT's then Free throws seems to long and improbable.
Coloring your hair... I now Rodman is out, but pink or orange is FN distracting... not just to players, but to spectators. Make it a rule, just in case.
What else???
GO LAKERS!!!
Source(s): FYI. The Tech rule is 16, and 7 in the playoffs. They do have a kick ball rule, its just not called very well. They also have a no fist ball hitting rule, but you never really see that in play, and when you do it's like Du, even I saw that from my $28 seats! - 1 decade ago
I think the NBA should work on enforcing the rules that they currently have before they add more. And the shooter jumping into the defender is ridiculous and has no business in the game.

the techincal fouls, i hate that if the player has 7 T. F. will be suspended the next game.
that rule is garbage
