Why does my bichon shed so much?
My bichon frise puppy has been shedding balls of hair like a cat does in the summer. Is that normal? I thought bichons do not really shed so I am a little worried. Or maybe only the adult coat does not shed?

well if its hot then that might be the reason, but if not then maybe its just losing its puppy fur.If your dog continues to shed like crazy after a year then make sure your feeding it the proper food and use the right shampoo(not human shampoo)baby shampoo is an exception but I recommend you use oatmeal dog shampoo. If you cant find any or its too expensive then just bathe your dog in warm oatmeal
just dont eat it lol
hope this helps :)

she is probably just changing from puppy fur to adult fur (remember, they mature to breeding ability within around 6-8 months). My bichon sheds a little. Just get her on a regular grooming schedule about every 8 weeks or so from this point on and you will only notice minimal hair loss. With being a cross of 2 hair breeds, shedding should be minimal, but they will still shed a bit, just like people do!

You need to groom them regularily, as well as clipping 3-4months.
All dogs shed, even low shedding one will if not brushed or clipped, otherwise it can be a sign of medical problem, and it sounds like your case, as Bichon are low shedding, its either a medical problems or you've been tricked and ended up with a mix breed dog.
You know Poodle will shed, if not groomed daily? You know what make a poodle look like it doesn't shed? The curly coat-the shed hairs actually get traped in the curls-so very little hair gets transfered to the environment. Hence the myth Poodles don't shed.
