    Hope this helps

    (x+1)(x-2)=(4-x)^(2)

    Reorder the polynomial 4-x alphabetically from left to right, starting with the highest order term.

    (x+1)(x-2)=(-x+4)^(2)

    Multiply each term in the first group by each term in the second group using the FOIL method. FOIL stands for First Outer Inner Last, and is a method of multiplying two binomials. First, multiply the first two terms in each binomial group. Next, multiply the outer terms in each group, followed by the inner terms. Finally, multiply the last two terms in each group.

    (x*x+x*-2+1*x+1*-2)=(-x+4)^(2)

    Simplify the FOIL expression by multiplying and combining all like terms.

    (x^(2)-x-2)=(-x+4)^(2)

    Remove the parentheses around the expression x^(2)-x-2.

    x^(2)-x-2=(-x+4)^(2)

    Since (-x+4)^(2) contains the variable to solve for, move it to the left-hand side of the equation by subtracting (-x+4)^(2) from both sides.

    x^(2)-x-2-(-x+4)^(2)=0

    Squaring an expression is the same as multiplying the expression by itself 2 times.

    x^(2)-x-2-((-x+4)(-x+4))=0

    Multiply -1 by each term inside the parentheses.

    x^(2)-x-2-x^(2)+8x-16=0

    Since x^(2) and -x^(2) are like terms, add -x^(2) to x^(2) to get 0.

    0-x-2+8x-16=0

    Since -x and 8x are like terms, subtract 8x from -x to get 7x.

    7x-2-16=0

    Subtract 16 from -2 to get -18.

    7x-18=0

    Since -18 does not contain the variable to solve for, move it to the right-hand side of the equation by adding 18 to both sides.

    7x=18

    Divide each term in the equation by 7.

    (7x)/(7)=(18)/(7)

    Simplify the left-hand side of the equation by canceling the common terms.

    x=(18)/(7)

    (x+1)(x-2) = (4-x)^2

    first step, simplify each side of the equation:

    (x+1)(x-2) (4-x)^2

    distribute write out

    x^2 - 2x + x - 2 (4-x)(4-x)

    simplify by adding like terms distribute

    x^2 - x - 2 16 - 4x - 4x + x^2

    x^2 - x - 2 = x^2 - 8x + 16 (after adding like terms)

    now get the x's to one side and the numbers to the other

    x^2 - x - 2 = x^2 - 8x + 16

    - x^2 +8x +2 -x^2 + 8x + 2

    ------------------------------------------

    7x = 18

    x = 18/7 solved

    hope that helps!

    (x + 1)(x - 2) = (4 - x)²

    x² - 2x + x - 2 = 16 - 4x - 4x + x²

    7x = 18

    x = 18/7

    Answer: x = 18/7 or 2 4/7

    Proof:

    (18/7 + 1)(18/7 - 2) = (4 - 18/7)²

    (18/7 + 7/7)(18/7 - 14/7) = (28/7 - 18/7)²

    25/7(4/7) = (10/7)²

    100/49 = 100/49

    ALWAYS WORK LEFT TO RIGHT

    Please paraentheis ()

    Excuse exponets

    My multiply X

    Dear divide /

    Aunt add +

    Sally subtract -

    im only an 8th grader but if i were to answer that i would solve it like this

    (x+1)=2x.....then (x-2)= -2x.......2x times -2x equals 4-x? not sure havent learned that yet thats my besst guess

    multiply x with x and 1 with -2

    then multiply 1 with x and x with -2

    then combine similar terms

    then combine the terms you got when you combine similar terms with (4-x)

    then you got it

    have a nice day....:-)

    just follow the steps and you'll got the correct answer...

    x^2-x-2=16-8x+x^2

    7x=18

    x=2.581
