what cell phone provider should i switch to?

ok well i used to have AT&T but I want to change companies. my contract ends september 16. the internet didn't work anywhere and it was expensive.. I'm a teenager. I use my phone mostly for texting. I want a carrier that has a good selection of phones, cheap, and has like a good connection. nothing online please :] i want to go to a store and get my phone. also, if i switch companes will i have to change my number? can they transfer my contacts if i switch phones with another company?? Thank you :))

Update:

when i switch companies, can they transfer the contacts from my at&t old phone into my new one?

I have us cellular and I pay about 65 a month for insurance, 450 minutes nation wide, and unlimited texting...they dont have the greatest selection of phones but they are definitely the most reliable carrier....I personally havent switched carriers before..(my parents did before they went with uscc)...go onto uscc.com and do some research before you go into a store...its always best to know what you want before you go shopping so you have time to think about what you can really afford...

Sprint is rather handy, they have some wicked cheap phones that are rather snazzy looking. The everything plan is only like fifty bucks a month if you disclude push to talk.

One would think that would be a good idea to increase customer base. Maybe you've thought of something here. I've never heard of anyone doing it, however.
