How to meet Dutch Friends if I'm in the US?
Hi all,
I'll be in the Netherlands for a few days in December and would like to meet/ go out with some Dutch people. I will be staying in my own hotel and have my own money, so I don't need help with that kind of thing. I just think it would be fun to see the city with some locals. I've tried these penpal sites but have no luck and internet dating is not at all what I want. Does anyone have suggestions?

If you want to meet a lot of Dutch people online then the best way is probably to join a network site. The one which is most widely used in the Netherlands is http://www.hyves.nl/
This site will pretty much ensure you have the chance of meeting bonafide Dutch people (rather that chat rooms where people tend to claim all sorts of things! :0))

I'm not Dutch but I can also give you some advice) Try to use couchsurfing.org You can find there many people who will be glad to show you city and drink a coffee with you. It's not actually a penpal site, I have used it by myself and was lucky enough to meet really good people (and in the Netherlands too).
Also you can meet locals in the bars, cafes or whatever and contact with them. Or maybe try to flirt with some Dutch guy in the streets and he'll invite you for a wonderful date on boat, showing you the Amsterdam's canals? ;)

The Dutch are extremely friendly! Go into a Brown Cafe and they will be very interested in having a conversation with you!
