I have a Bachelor's degree in psychology. What would be a good job for me?
I am of course interested in all things mental health related but am also interested in business, more specifically human resources. I don't understand how businesses want to hire those with 2-3 years experience because how the hell are you supposed to get that experience!!!! That's what college was for!!!
One other bad thing is that I live in Ohio where no one can find a job, people are laid off every day, and no one has any money for anything.
I am desperate, any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. :)
BA. I have intentions to go to grad school for a Masters in counseling but I really need to work right now.

It depends on whether you have a BS or a BA. You might be hard pressed to find a psychology-related job with just a Bachelor's Degree. You could probably work in a psychologist's office as an assistant, or, if you were more interested in business, maybe look for a job in an advertising agency. Ad agencies tend to look for psychologists to help them better sell products so you might be interested in that. You should also look for laboratory jobs in psychological research. They don't pay a fortune, but they are definitely good for experience and references (plus they pay the bills). I know it's a big step, but you might also consider going for your Master's Degree. It would definitely help you find jobs in the long run.

i got my BA in psych as well...couldnt find a job for the life of me so i used my experience in construction and became a project manager. so i think you should use the experience you have up until now and find a job in one of those areas. you will really need to go back to school to do something in the mental health area. i ended up getting my masters in project management and kinda left me hopes of working in mental health. if i had any advise i would tell you to not waste your time in the business world right now...its quite chaotic. i would advise going directly to grad school in the subject of you interest...even if you have to temporarily go into debt. if i could do it over i would have gone straight from undergrad into grad school and went on to get a doctorate in psych. good luck

You can also ways try continuing your education and getting you masters in psychology. Masters in psychology is extremely beneficial. I would recommend it.
