Dallas Cowboy's new stadium Physics problem?
A challenge for anyone interested.
I knew this was going to happen back in early summer, as soon as I heard how high the screens were going to be hung above the field, 100 feet if I'm not mistaken. That's 33.3 yards above the playing field. If you've ever went to a pro, college, or even high school football game you'll know that, and especially during pre game warm ups, that the punters can kick the ball extremely high. I would estimate greater than 33.3 yards high in instances where a punter was attempting to land the ball inside his opponent's 10 yard line while giving his cover team enough time to get down the field to keep it from going in the endzone.
This problem can be worked out by any Physics student, teacher or anyone proficient in the areas required to see if the screens make sense in there current location according to logic. I am in my first semester of Physics in college and I'm not proficient enough to solve this, but I'm really interested in the results, I have been every since I heard how big the screens were and how high they were off the field.
Question: The screens run between the 20 yard lines, 60 yards long, Using my reference as an example, if a punter is kicking from his own 45 yard line, given the screen is 100 ft. above him, and let's say his kick will land 10 yards deep in the endzone, this would be a 65 yard actual kick. Now, we know that when the ball is kicked it will take a parabolic trajectory. The middle being the 22.5 yard line. Now on a graph, drawing a line straight up from the 22.5 yard line and adding a 33.3 yard, or 100 ft. ceiling. How far above 100 feet does a football need to travel in order to travel the distance needed. What combination ratio of inputs such as where the ball was kicked at? How far did it travel? Will give you the best and worst ratio’s of interference with the screens. Anyway, you see where I'm going with this. Any other inputs anyone has is welcome. I just am curious to know why possibly 1.2 billion dollars couldn't hire engineers that had no inclination of the laws of physics when applied to football while designing a FOOTBALL STADIUM. 40 million dollars is a lot of money for 4 TV screens. So why wasn't this taken into consideration a long time ago. I thought to myself, well surely that won't be a problem if I can see it. But after watching the Viking punter ricochet a ball off of it. I said, “No way, no friggin way.” If it happened in the first game, it's going to happen a lot. It's hard to do anything with it now; I hope the people in charge of the design aren't the people in charge of fixing it. It seems they're options are pretty limited when looking at it from your own point of view. They can't lower the field, raising the screens would make sense but is that the best option? What if the screens were moved out to the hash marks and the smaller screens on the end zone sides were moved further away from the middle of middle of the field, instead of being over the 20 they would now be between the goal line and the 5 yard line.
Can anyone work the Physics problem first and foremost, that's all I really wanted to know. And what would you do to fix it, please don't give opinion until after problem is solved. Thanks people.

I'm having an awful time figuring out exactly what's heppening. Are you talking about a ball hitting the screen or are you talking about the football being shot in such a way that the camera is taking a picture of the sreen which is refecting what the camera sees? I take it that the ball is hitting the screen after reading watching the Viking Punter ...
Second isn't the distance between the 2 twenty yard lines 40 yards not 60, or does it start further back.
Third: wait, I'm beginning to catch on. Those screens are somewhere in the middle of the field? I don't watch football so I don't know. I thought they were like in Yankee Stadium.

I'm going to be a bit snide. Sorry!
I am certain no one told the Architect or Engineers about the plan to hang those big screens. I suspect some "non-tech degree" thought it would be cool after they got the thing built.
I figure they will take those big screens over the field down and put them over the seats

Does that come with the requisite 15 page personal injury waiver form as well as a promotional Dallas Cowboys hard hat?
