Dragon question?
I love dragons. I hope that they are real but I don't know if they are or not. But anyways, I have so much dragon stuff. My friends say I am obsessed which I sort of agree. But I am 13 and my parents are telling me that I need to grow out of believing mythological stuff. Should I or should I not? HELP!

I have collected dragons since the late 1960's and have all kinds and made of all types things from gold to being made of cloth and stuffed. I like the Oriental kind the best for they are the good guys. You figure if millions of people from Asia believe in dragons why not some one from the USA. Parents should not take dreams and the world that is not easy to understand or explain away from children. I am teaching my grandson about the wonders of dragons and he is 4 and I am 65. Age means little to have an open mind. If you do think you are obsessed you probably are and it would not hurt to back down some. There is no proof that dragons exist today in the physical world, but they sure do in stories from the past. You do need to maybe just take a break and do some meditation on your situation and they will help you do the right thing.

It's not wrong to love something/(be obsessed by something) or to believe in something, nor is it to collect stuff. I think your parents are right but so are you, I think that you should just try to be a bit less obsessed, I mean it's good to believe in something but you can overreact too and I Think that's the case here.
You say you hope that dragons are real, maybe you think they are real too. I think that's what your parents mean, that you should stop saying that "fantasy animals" are real and such, I think that you should just believe in whatever thing you want but that you should be a bit less obsessed with it. There's nothing bad about being obsessed/in love with some thing, though overreacting the matter is.
I hope I helped you out a bit :)

Lol, how funny. It's the exact reverse in my family. I don't believe in dragons, but my parents do. They're Hmong (by that I refer to the religion and not the ethnicity) and it's an integral part of their belief system. The Hmong believe that dragons live in another dimension, the main portal of which is water. Dragons are thought to create rainbows and can change their shape or form. My grandfather claimed he once followed a rainbow to the water and saw a glimpse of a dragon, but then the dragon caused his eyes to burn and stumbled him screaming and half blind. Anyways, it's kind of hard for me to argue with my parents that dragons aren't real, because the Hmong explanation is that their is a spiritual counterpart to all things that happen in our realm. At the same time, I am also second-guessing myself. Just what if they are real? I don't carry an obsession with dragons, but I always take care not to throw junk in the water and other superstitious things. Well hope this helps!

When they tell you not to believe in dragons, you can just look at them crazy like "What? Do you think I'm nuts?" Of course you know there are not real dragons flying around earth, because you would have seen them before now. You just enjoy drawing and collecting things that are dragon related because they are so "intricate" and "interesting". My sister in law (she's 50 years old) collects the little pocket dragons. She had a special glass-front cabinet built into the wall of their new house so she can display her collection of at least 200 cute little dragons. You don't have to *believe* in them like a little kid *believes* in the Easter Bunny. But you can enjoy them for as long as you want.
