I would suggest a fruity type of cheesecake....possibly topped with blueberries. It's cold, it will keep until later if desired, and also is great with coffee. Or you can always go to the old standby - coffee cake???

Muffins with fresh fruit (think Blueberry, Starwberry, etc.) will work beautifully and everybody loves them. Take along some honey butter.

Coffee Cake is also a good choice.

    Fruit Muffins:

    INGREDIENTS

    2 cups all-purpose flour

    3 teaspoons baking powder

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/2 cup white sugar

    1/4 cup shortening

    1 cup milk

1 cup fresh chopped fruit of your choice

    DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease 12 muffin cups.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.

In a separate bowl, cream together sugar and shortening. Stir the flour mixture into the sugar mixture alternately with the milk. Fold in the fruit. Pour batter into prepared muffin pans.

Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

    Ingredients

    1 pound butter

    1/4 cups honey

    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Let the butter soften to room temp. When soft, cream the butter, honey, cinnamon and vanilla together well. Using a spatula, put the honey butter in a pretty, small crock or bowl.

    Coffee Cake

    Ingredients:

    Topping:

    1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour (sift before measuring)

    1/4 cup butter, room temperature

    1 teaspoon cinnamon

    .

    Cake:

1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour (sift before measuring)

    2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1 egg, beaten

    3/4 cup sugar

    1/3 cup melted butter

    1/2 cup milk

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Preparation:

Topping. In small mixing bowl, combine topping ingredients. Blend with fork until crumbly. Set aside.

Sift 1 1/2 cups sifted flour with baking powder and salt into a bowl. In a medium bowl, beat together beaten egg and 3/4 cup sugar and 1/3 cup melted butter. Add milk and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture and mix well.

Pour batter into a greased and floured 8-inch square or 9-inch layer-cake pan. Sprinkle topping crumb mixture evenly over batter. Bake at 375° for 25 to 30 minutes, or until cake tests done. Partially cool in pan on wire rack. Cut coffee cake into squares while still warm.

Why don't you just call the family who the food is going to and ask them what kind of a dessert they would want...

I like the other answers ideas too =)

I agree that cinnamon rolls or assorted pastries would be a good idea. Alternatively, try cheese or cherry blintzes. They're delicious and go well with brunches. Plus, you can find them in the frozen aisle (usually with the Kosher stuff or near there) and can make them lickety split.
