can you lose body fat by taking a weight lifting class at highschool?
Im taking one this year how much can I lose within a school year. Will it tone everthing and make me look thinner?

Definitely, while cardiovascular workouts burn more calories at that time, strength training will shed fat and build lean muscle, this muscle burns calories just to maintain, and so just sitting and talking to your friends will be burning more calories than those who don't. Listen to the instructors and stick with it. If great results came in 2 weeks, everybody would have muscles, it is a good, no great stress reliever and the satisfaction after a workout along with the way you look and long term health benefits cannot be beat. Not many women strength train so if you keep at it, you will stand out with tone legs, bottom, lean arms and a superior self confidence.
It takes work but stick with it. That is where everyone fails!!!
