Need a laptop diagnosis?

My screen on my laptop (Acer Aspire 6920) randomly went haywire with a bunch of assorted coloured lines going top to bottom(on the right side) and a few going left to right. Now when I use my screen I can only use the left side on my screen when I use my laptop which is pretty inconvienient. I figured it must be something wrong with the video card since the laptop was completely unprovoked when it happened. If it's the video card, It's integrated so what should I do? Or else what other problem could it be?

FIRST, backup your data. i highly recommend to back up your data. It is possible to be from graphic card. I have experienced with my old Acer laptop such thing, and it was an early symptoms of computer complete failure. To be sure if it is the graphic card, try to use an external monitor by plugging it to an external projector and desktop monitor. If they are still shown on those screens, this means it is not from your laptop monitor but from the graphic card. The other problem would be your laptop motherboard. This is indicates that it will crash soon and your motherboard will be down. If your graphic card is integrated then you need to replace the motherboard and hopefully it is under warranty. As an advice, backup your data to an external hard drive or DVD, depending on huge your data could be.

It can be that or a case of a harness partially unplugged, as the hinges remains the achilles heal of all laptops, they are improving, but you never know. either way it will be required to be taken to a accredited laptop repairer as they can't be repaired in the field, then if the repair cost out weigh the replacement costs. you have a choice?
