my 14 month old westie is losing her leg hair. she seems to be chewing at her legs. is this normal?

    You should get this checked by a vet. The hair loss may be from the chewing, but you want to know what is causing the chewing like fleas, rash, or even mange.

    Unless it is fleas then, no. however westies are the #1 breed for allergies & skin issues. Which is it is so important to check out breeder & dog's lineage for these genetic problems before buying. Go to vet & if it doesn't clear up, go to dermatologist vet.

    no its not normal but if u bring her to the vet- the vet will perscibe the dog a type of cream that u rub on the part.

    what ur westie has is called mites they are not contagous to humans or other dogs

    could be a # of things flea bites, dry skin allergies, u really need to seek pro advice, to be able to clear this up and to find exactly what it is that is wrong, before he destroys any more of the affected areas by chewing, and biting, the vet will upon examination be able to remedy this poor little guy, go asap good luck

    I would recommend taking her to a vet to be seen it could be allergies, mange or some kind of skin condition.

    normal? no. mange or fleas or allergy? didn't recently change her food did you? have her checked by a vet, we can't do it through the screen >.<;
