Michael Jackson had a rare skin disease called "Vitiligo". Vitiligo is a relatively rare skin disorder, in which white spots or patches appear on the skin. These spots are caused by destruction or weakening of the pigment cells in those areas, resulting in the pigment being destroyed or no longer produced. In most cases, vitiligo is believed to be an autoimmune-related disorder. Although researchers are not exactly sure what causes the autoimmune response, more is being learned every year. In vitiligo, only the color of the skin is affected. The texture and other skin qualities remain normal.

Michael never became white. If you mean what year did his skin color change, that's a hard one to answer. He was diagnosed with Vitiligo and Lupus after he was burned in the Pepsi commercial in 1984. Between then and 1987 when the Bad album was released, he'd become lighter. When Dangerous was released in 1991 he was even lighter, and again once History came out in 1995.

Michael decided to 'aid' the disease and dye his skin soon after, in order to cover burns and also to ameliorate the impression given by the partial whiteness of Vitiligo.

ok..uhm first off Michael never wanted to become white! he said it himself that he is proud to be African American! very very proud indeed. but he had a skin condition called vitililgo which causes white blotches all over your skin, so Michael just had his skin pigment taken out to even out his skin. ohh and pigment is what makes the color of your body whether its your hair or skin. so lets say you did what Michael did. He took out the pigment in his skin cuz he didnt want blotches all over him right? well obviously you'd look pale and if you took the pigment outta your hair your hair would turn white!

but the main poin to understand is Michael didnt want white blotches all over his body cuz if vitiligo, so he just took the pigment out and evened out his skin! kk? lol

ugh, y r rumors still spreading about him even AFTER DEATH?? like the 20 year old son unknown, if hes the biological father, the surrogate mother. like jermaine said "the jacko-crap needs to be stopped" if ur asking death related question then thats normal because thats like an investigation unfortunately.

but he didnt want to become white, he loved being black, he had vitiligo but he wanted to look "normal" so he put on some makeup to even out the blotches.

thats rly rude to say someone doesnt want to be who they are when its a medical condition.

now that hes dead though honestly WHO CARES IF HE TURNED BLUE! im just waiting on the autopsy results,

let him REST IN PEACE..THE RUMORS STOP!, although the investigation WILL continue and that i look forward too see becuz when i find out who did, ima beat ...u kno...

he said it was a skin disease. its not that hard to believe, but some people argue that he bleached his skin because he hated being "black". if he did bleach it at all, which i don't believe so, i think it was because he LIKED being weird. he wanted to be interesting. but thats just an opinion of a fan.

He had a skin disease that turned his skin white. There is no such thing as bleaching your skin or getting it that light it's impossible.
