Kimchi is the term used to describe how a vegetable is prepared using a technique. Kimchi can be made using, Nappa Cabbage (most commonly known), Daikon, Cucumber, Scallions, Dandelion Greens etc. Basically, any vegetable can be turned into a type of Kimchi using this technique.

There are basically two styles, one is the most common which is use of salt, chili powder and fish sauce (spicy). Other ingredients can be added by the person making it as this differs from different areas of Korea. The other kind is created using water, salt, fresh peppers, ginger and garlic. Nappa cabbage and daikon's are typically used for this process.

In both instances the purpose is to allow for fermenting, which gives it different levels of flavor depending on how long it is fermented or pickled.

If you like the pickled/fermented/salty thing then I am sure you will probably be OK with it. At the very least I think you would like one of the varieties that Kimchi encompasss. Best way to find out is to try it.

I used to like Kimchi when it is first made with no fermentation but now a days I like it after it has fermented for a bit, so it has more of that pickled flavor.

No it does not cure Sars or Bird Flu but works well for sore throats when you are sick since the saltiness helps kill the bacteria, the liquid version especially.

Nope, however the attractiveness comes ordinarily from scholars accommodations at human beings's properties and being fed the main inexpensive and nastiest stuff the British supermarkets ought to supply. i'm a Spaniard residing in England, I cook dinner a mixture of Spanish and English dishes and the kin loves it. Fish and chips are an staggering dish, yet whilst that's made in oil that hasn't been replaced for a protracted time, might nicely be revolting. Bangers and mash, actual convenience foodwherever there develop into some, yet back, if accomplished with maximum inexpensive sausages and on the spot mash, extra healthful purely for the garbage bin. See what I advise now?

  • I love it especially when it is ripe.?? i don't know the word for it but it's so good!! But it depends on person's personality in food. If you like vegetable and don't mind things that are spicy you might like it. But some people think that it has a strange smell and doesn't like it at all.. Im korean so i personally like it but it really depends its worth a try to have one bite or something to see if you like it or not. If we give it to our neighbors they love it and asks for more =] But i never heard that it cures bird flu or Sars..

I have lived in Korea for 11 years and have never heard of it being a cure for anything except malnutrition. As to if it's good, hmm. If you like spicy food, then good. If you like pickled food, then good. If you like both, then great. But I would seriously doubt whoever told you about the cure thing. It's just a food. It has Chinese cabbage, salt, a little sugar, chili pepper powder, garlic, and other spices. None of these things are medicines.
