Good argument for legalizing Marijuana?

I don't really see a good reason it should be legalized.

I understand that people like it, but that doesn't mean it should be legal.

Are there any REAL reasons it should be legalized?

I'd like some differing opinions.

Please and thanks.

Update:

I understand that taxing it could make us money. But is money really all that matters?

Would you be willing to risk your kids getting marijuana like they can with marijuana, just so the government, that already takes a lot of your money, can make more?

Update 2:

lol above i meant to say 'like they can with cigarettes'

A good place to start is the fact that our over-crowded prisons are filled with those convicted of marijuana specific crimes. You can find this data in the Bureau of Justice Statistics and other government sources. The point is that marijuana has never been shown to contribute to violent crime, yet the sheer amount of money we're spending to arrest, prosecute, and imprison those for marijuana crimes is enormous. Given the non-existent threat of marijuana (those who use it don't commit violent acts generally), it is unreasonable to keep marijuana criminalized when it is a waste of money and law enforcement and judicial resources. The only person marijuana generally harms is the user; like smoking nicotine products.

The History Channel and the Learning Channel have a few very informative understanding at the prohibition of marijuana. I feel that the understanding principal is the truth that while marijuana used to be made unlawful it used to be situated at the details in the course of the 50's. Marijuana used to be handiest made unlawful given that politicians had been ready to categorise it as a "scheduled narcotic"(you must appear up the definition). Over the beyond 60 years stories have established that marijuana isn't a scheduled narcotic and does not are compatible the standards. There isn't any argument that marijuana is more secure than tylenol, aspirin, bloodless medication, alcohol or even water. I feel if an man or woman challenged the validity of the definition of "scheduled narcotic" and THEN requalified ALL scheduled narcotics marijuana would now not via authorized definition be location on that record; the record which qualifies a drug for prohibition. One of the modern portions of understanding concerning some great benefits of marijuana is that it counteracts breast melanoma cells. There are many advantages, however getting it legalized will take greater than a moneymaking stance. The advantages are good recognized via now and men and women pick whether or not or to not feel them. Their minds are made up. So, should you cannot difference to any extent further minds and you're proper then you definately must desire that the motive for it is prohibition within the first location goes to be the discipline of assault and legalization. It wasn't prohibited given that it used to be "unhealthy" it used to be prohibited given that there used to be no method to end up that it wasn't unhealthy. Today there's. You must determine out all medicinal marijuana assets. NORML. Marijuana Reform Laws. Like with all matters marijuana must be considered for it is professionals and cons. Like with all matters it must be used responsibly and moderately.

There are a number of legitimate medical reasons that marijuana can be used for such as treating glaucoma and nausea during chemo therapy, it helps aids patients to keep down food...in addition many people find it helps with anxiety and depression and has less side effects than valium or other heavy pharmaceuticals and legally prescribed narcotics.

not only does marijuana provide medical help, it provides JOBS. something the economy needs right now, is more jobs. if marijuana was legalised, it would provide jobs for people who grow it, people who package it, and people who sell it. it costs the state money to pay poliece to confisgate the weed, so if it was legal, the states would save and make more money.

    Taxes? Personal freedom?

    Medical reasons.

If it helps cope with pain--- I can't think of a better natural remedy.

I don't smoke it--------, but I know people who do and I don't see any more harm in it than alcohol or cigarettes.

Ever hear of someone getting so stoned or high on pot that they beat their wife? I've never heard that before--but can't say the same about someone getting so drunk on alcohol.

It could given by prescription in the treatment of nausea caused by chemotherapy (cancer treatments). It has also been shown to slow the development of glaucoma (the cause of blindness) in patients with diabetes.

I don't think it should be legalized. The only reason is should be is because it helps with certain sicknesses. But doctors can give that out, so...yeah...
