Vegetarian cheeses, any that taste close to the real thing?

I'm trying to convert to a vegetarian and mostly vegan lifestyle. I'm looking for some good non-dairy 'cheeses'. I really like Parmesan a lot and can barely eat spaghetti without it. Has anyone tried any non-dairy Parmesan type cheese?

What about the cheeses made to imitate cheddar and so on?

Most vegetarians include cheese in their diet, But their are some good recipes in Vegan cook books that you might like to try.

Cheese isn't vegetarian, it's not meat. It can be vegan, though.

And yeah I think it tastes good, but I don't remember what regular cheese tastes like. But I do remember missing the taste of real cheese at first.

So it really just takes some getting used to.

Follow your heart brand is awesome, and so is Scheese (i think that's how you spell it) You can get vegan (which I assume you meant) cheeses at Whole Foods. They have vegan parmesan cheese too. Different people like different brands so try them and see what you like. If you don't have a Whole Foods or other organic store in your area you can order from veganessentials.com. They have tons of great stuff.

I just recently purchased a recipe book called "The Uncheese Cookbook" on Amazon. All the recipes I've tried so far have been pretty good. I never came across a commercial vegan cheese I liked yet.

Years ago I had a very good tofu "cheddar" from Trader Joe's in Hollywood. I don't know the brand name or whether they still sell it, but I honestly couldn't detect any difference in flavor or texture.
