Whip Rules, it hasn't been a month and already look at the controversy.?

So as everyone knows Deer Valley won on Saturday 22nd because his jockey Daniel Ganderton broke the new whip rules and hit the horse 9 times within the last 150m in groups of four then five (more info in below articles). He beat heavily backed favourite Melito and now that we have a Group One race coming up this weekend and the winner Denman could possibly be beaten by these rules and if so I will be soooo annoyed that words could not explain. I was wondering what your thoughts on the matter are, and what should be done.

I want them gone, yes we can keep the padded whip but I've had enough of these restrictions we have lost so much that made Australian racing what it was.

Here are a few articles to give you an idea of whats going on (starting from the saturday in question) -

Update:

I backed Melito and don't ask me why, cause I love all horses by Lonhro and Chris Waller is one of my favourite trainers. It was a great ride but i'm not happy he broke the rules to win, the rules just should not exsist.

oh what a terriffic ride that was as well, i backed her too, $15 each way i had a great weekend, i had $50 on secret flyer as well, but anyway, i was disgusted that he got into shi t over it, serious that was a 10 out of 10 ride and the horse was responding, he wasnt just flogging a "dead horse" i was listening to an interview today with the head of the nsw jockey board and he said that they want the rules modified because it is unsafe for a jock in the last 200 to be thiking about anything else than staying on and getting everything out of their mount, not worrying about how many times they have used the whip orr how high there arm is, so hopefully we should see some changes, the padded whip is a great idea, but why change the way they ride or how many times they can whip if its padded and doesnt hurt, that interview was on trackside today if you wanna watch the replay, all in all, they suck and need to be removed and let racing be racing

I'm neither here nor there on this stupid whip rule. They either ditch the rule altogether or ban the use of the whip after the 200 rather than put ridiculous limitations on it.

The stewards certainly hung young Daniel out to dry, it was an over the top penalty. Guess they felt they had to make an example, like all pocket nazis do.

I just wonder how Mick Dittman would get on.

as a punter . i cant understand why they are using a new whip as well as the new whip rule. the new whip isnt surposed to hurt the horse so why restrict the mount of times it should be used. all it is going to do is cause heart ache for jockeys, trainers and owners firstly and punters. some horses need a good crack to get their minds on the job. the new whip is a good idea , get rid of the rest..
