I am a veteran who is very close to losing his home. I have been unemployed since January 08. I was receiving?
PA unemployment compensation, but they overpaid me, My last check (for a family of four) was $219 for two weeks. I am almost three months behind in my mortgage and we found out this week that my wife's job as a teacher's aid has been eliminated. I have no where to turn.

Would the GI Bill be an option for you? Or the VA Voc.Reh.?
You could work on your education and at the same time receive a housing allowance. Clearly, it will take a few weeks and months to get everything running, but it could be a worth a try for the future.

Contact the VA for assistance. It will be minimal, but even a well-placed letter to the lender could help.
My company could only help with debt reduction. You are not in need of this, from your question. However, I would like to recommend that you contact the lender directly. Even in person, if practical.

I am truly sorry for you. Chk with your local gov. Normally they provide aid for unemployed / veterans. There are lots of other international orgs. like Red Cross, certain wings of UNO which can help you.
I am sure this stage would pass fast & you will return back to normalcy
