Why do people have sex before marriage when they say they're religious?
Please dont be offended as because i dont believe in religion. People who are not religious and only believe in some aspects of their religion i can understand and they admit it. But people who quote the bible over and over and im sure you have met people like this "the bible says....blah blah" and they talk about all the morals they have to follow. But they have sex before marriage? WTF Why do people do this. Ad why do some regret having sex? If its a personal reason then i get it. but if its because of ur religion...would u find it credible?

Because they don't want to admit that they can't control their natural instincts with their moral code.

Most people that become "religious" do so after the fact. First their was the sex outside of marriage, then they stepped forward and became "religious". Secondly, most nonreligious people have sex outside of marriage due to peer pressure. It is later on in life that they come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and come to Christ but with a lot of baggage. But that is no reason to hold such matters over their heads.

because most religious people (not all) fail miserably in following the most important directives from Christ. They would rather spend time condeming others (gay, straight, rich, poor, white, black, etc.) that to acknowledge their own failings. Its called being a self-righteous hypochrit (sp). If i'm feeling bad about me or about the life i've lived or the things i've done, the best way for me to feel better is to bash someone that i perceive to be "less righteous" than me.
As for a biblical reference, i think its somewhere about the middle of Mathew (not sure) where it says something about removing the log from one's own eye before removing the speck from your brother's eye.
Oh yeah. Those directives from Christ I mentioned?
1) Love the Lord thy God with all of your heart.
2) Love one another.
Source(s): My own gay, Christian persective, not to be confused with other "religions". Did not mean to imply that Christianity was the only religion there was or the only one you were referring to. It's just the only one i really know much about at all. No Offense intended to anyone by that reference. - Anonymous1 decade ago
Because at the time when the bible was written, people got married in their teens. Needless to say, times have changed.

funny how a religious breeder got all pissed - but never attempted to answer question - only insult others.....how...Christ-like......
look, it comes down to this.
As long as it is 2 heterosexuals - even if in the religion it says it's wrong - it's ignored.
That is the reality of the bigotry and prejudice of religions.
