I have a friend who is a recovering alcoholic. He's been clean and sober for 30+ years. I asked him when he lost the craving to drink.
"I haven't," he said. He tells me that every single day he has to decide again to live sober and not drink. He said some days are worse than others, but there is never a day goes by that he does not want a drink.
If you are a recovering addict, you will be a recovering addict for the rest of your life. I hope you have a good support system among your friends and family and that you have a support group that you can go to when things get tough. Good luck.

I can't even quit cigarettes so how you have stayed clean for seven years I just don't know. All I can say is well done to you ....absolutely brilliant and just keep on doing whatever the hell you have been doing for the last seven years. Love, luck and happiness.

Connect with Narcotics Anonymous or AA as soon as possible. The craving never goes and stress can make it come back. Those groups will be there for you daily, if necessary, to help you deal with your craving--without judging you. They are a great support.

maybe you need to look at what has happened over the past few nights that makes you feel this way. is it the people you are hanging out with, is it the stress, is it the actions you are choosing to do during the day?

no- it never goes away. you have to be willing to control it, which it seems you have. i guess the only thing i can say is to make a list of the pros and cons - say what you would lose if you got back into old habits.....maybe that will help you stay away from whatever "hit" you are looking for

never.
addiction is for life.
take a walk, chew gum, watch a movie, read a book, have sex ...
do anything you can to divert your attention and focus on anything but what you are addicted to.
