I'm having some transmission/power issues with my 1993 Chrysler Concorde 3.5l.?
The problem when i got it is that the transmission leaks slowly so i top it off every now and then, it idles high though not since my more serious problem has arisen. A couple of days ago when i was in rush hour traffic, when id stop at a light, it would idle fine, then it would suddenly die, and start right back up on its own. and it would repeat after i accelerate from the light a few feet. When I'm going full speed it will jerk a little bit intermittently and the rpm meter would go down then back to normal, even though I've got adequate fluid levels in all areas. I recently had the starter looked at because the battery died after i left the keys in it half turned over night, and got a new battery and it wouldn't start. mechanic said it was that the starter was jammed, and it started right up after coming off of the wrecker. I know many people would say to get a new car, but i didn't qualify for the cash for clunker deal, and I'm only 19 and cant afford a new car. I need some serious advice here please! The mechanic also said that the computers on chryslers die when the battery is dead for a period of time, and it would need to be driven for 30 mins to reset, but i drove it more than that, and this problem persists, and is very stressful, especially in rush hour traffic, but when i get out to the country where i live the stress leaves. I dont want to break down in the middle of the hood one day. and any advice would be appreciated.

Ok i am sure money is an issue so lets try to keep this easy. the stalling and trans i think r 2 different problems and i think that mech ripped you off if i understood what you wrote. you left key all night and wouldnt start next morn it was towed to mech and ge said you need a starter? if that is right he ripped U. but if i was u take car to a reputable lube place not dealer 2 $ and get a Trans flush done NOT a drain and fill but a flush. that takes care of alot of trans problems If that doesnt fix it then you have pressure problems and need a shop. now the stalling does it only happen after engine warm and at a stop? email me with more info and i can help better kmp1171@att.net

The check engine light should come on when it does this. You can check the basic trouble codes by cycling the key three times (on, off, on, off, on and leave it on -- on being the run position, not start position). It should show the trouble codes in the digital odometer display. A P0300 code is a random or multiple cylinder misfire, which can indicate bad plugs or wires (codes should always start with a P followed by four numbers), you can post a new question with the codes, or update this question with the codes.
How old are the spark plugs and wires? Your description sounds like it is simply getting a misfire from some of the cylinders. This could be as simple as bad plugs and wires causing it to miss and run rough. If you don't know if they've ever been changed, or when the last time they were changed, then change them out. Best to use Mopar plug wires from the dealer parts department, the better quality is well worth the price, and Champion spark plugs (Chrysler uses Champion factory). If you must use aftermarket wires, don't get their cheap set as they are notorious for being garbage, get their best set available, which will be about the same price as the factory wires.
If that doesn't work, have it properly diagnosed by a well qualified technician to find the problem. Replacing any other parts could be throwing money away. I've seen thousands spent throwing parts at a problem trying to fix an inexpensive repair by people who thought they knew better and/or thought they were going to save money by trying to do it themselves.
BTW, There's no need to flush the transmission fluid, a transmission flush will not make the leak go away, at best, it will stay the same, but it could make the leak worse. You should have the leak checked to find out where it's leaking, and consider having it fixed if not too expensive for you. Might be as simple as a leaking trans oil pan. Otherwise, if it's too expensive, just continue to make sure the fluid doesn't get too low until you can afford to have it fixed.
When it is time to change the transmission fluid, a trans fluid/filter change will suffice. No manufacturer that I know of recommends a transmission flush as regular maintenance, and some even advise against it.

It sounds like your engine problem is a vacuum leak. A vacuum leak allows extra air to get into the engine. This would account for the high idle. When you take off from a stop or try to accelerate in traffic, there's more air than fuel for a moment causing the car to stall or feel as if it is going to stall. Take a close look at the vacuum lines from the engine and make sure they are good. If they are okay, it could be a leaking intake manifold gasket. Get some throttle body cleaner and spray it along the manifold joints. If you hear the engine rev up, thats where it is leaking. Good luck.
