Buying a new coffee table, or taking someone's old table that doesn't have a top on it and getting glass cut to put on top of it? Also, if a table starts to mildew, is it ruined?

Get an inexpensive new coffee table--without a glass top. I have glass tops and they scratch, dust shows within one day, etc. Go with all wood top.

If you like glass and don't mind cleaning it. The mildew depends on how far it is in the wood. Can it be sanded and resealed? Roxanne

You will hate yourself for having decided on a glass-topped anything unless you have or enjoy routine housekeeping. I don't know the answer to your second question, but suggest you ask a refinisher or an antiques dealer.
