When an individual harms an animal, it is considered abuse, but when an industry harms animals, it is not considered abuse & even defended by otherwise intelligent people.

Farm animals are protected from abuse. Most countries have laws regulating this and have set up councils to oversee new legislation. I'm not sure what makes you think they are not protected but if you suspect animal abuse or neglect is going on you can report whoever is responsible and an investigation will happen. One of the biggest problems still to be overcome with legislation is that animals are still considered property under most criminal codes are thus treated as such (yes even pets!). I suggest you become more informed about government legislation in your are and get involved to have this changed or improved if you are not satistied with the laws in place.

Who says pets are protected? If the government can't enforce a Class B Misdemeanor punishment for the abuse and neglect of thousands of dogs and cats, what makes you think they could enforce it on millions of farm animals?
Then there is the semantic argument over what constitutes "abuse", considering that the final fate of the farm animal is always going to be slaughter...we have laws in place for the human treatment of food production animals, and how well-enforced are those?

They are, but like the laws on domestic animals, they are hard to enforce.

I love all animals but some animals have been bred to be killed before their natural lifespan is up and eaten (i.e: cattle). I'm pretty sure livestock are protected by the SPCA and must be provided food, adequate shelter, medical care (this one I'm not sure about, lots of farm animals get put down instead of being treated, because they aren't worth the cost of treatment). Also there are guidelines farmers must follow to qualify their goods and animals as organic, free range or all-natural. Research these definitions as set by the FDA and that may help clear up some confusion.

livestock are in deed i don't comprehend which state you reside in yet I surely have labored with regulation enforcement and that they're. and not all pets are secure many will in no way get helped that's so unhappy. yet whilst somebody comments abuse at a farm they'll go out and keep the candy animals.

Not all farm animals are raised in intensive conditions. Even those that are, get some protection. Not enough, I grant you - but then I'm not convinced pets are either.

Livestock are protected from animal abuse. If you know of starving, neglected livestock then report it to the SPCA.
Saoise, not everyone eats animals.

pets arent exactly protected (BYB, idiot owners ect)
BUT now that the economy in my area is going down they are taking any chance to seize animals that look like they are about to be in a bad way.
then the owner is charged.
several cattle near where i live these animals are free grazing livestock we live where there really is dead grass around this time of year. the cattle had to search several acres for a bit of edible material.
they were not provided hay or fresh water so they were seized.
not by the ASPCA im not sure who did.
they are cracking down hard on packing plants and ranchers that cant care for stock animals.
i dont believe they are being rougher on the poultry industry however its still legal to beat a turkey to death with a crow bar.
the US is #1 in chickens
China #2 for the sheer amount we both have in poultry
we have more poultry than we have, pigs, horses, cattle.
in order of what we mainly have
Chickens
cattle
horses
pigs
sheep or duck
im not putting miscellaneous animals we eat
ADD:
the animal abuse i assume you are talking about is in the slaughter houses?
where piglets are castrated without pain relief? have kill written on them as their eyes are gouged out and they are hauled out into the light kicking and screaming? many go insane and eat one another. piglets will eat one another.
chickens grow so fat on the feed their bones collapse and they cannibalize one another in the laying factories they are crammed into cages and when one looks close to death they are flung around by their neck then kicked under the pens to rot? then they are left with wounds and infections and no treatment?
cattle rammed with carts, cut open pregnant cows. stun guns, calves forced to watch as their friends throat is slit, not allowed to move so the meat stays tender.
cleaner healthier conditions for our meat animals will be healthier in the long run.
did you know for a long time they thought it was sanitary to slaughter a cow in one of the pens surrounded by mud and ****?
im Not PETA but i want my burger healthy not tortured.
