Dentures......how do you cope ?

I have just had partial dentures fitted. The top set I can cope with but the bottom ones are not comfortable at all.

Could any one give me advice on the best thing to use to keep them in place. I tried Polygrip but it makes me feel sick. In fact just putting the Dentures in my mouth makes me feel sick.

No silly answers please....looking for genuine advice...thanks.

first of all I was just wondering what you meant by partial dentures? Are the made of metal and teeth put in where you are missing teeth or are they a full set of teeth for the upper and lower. The reason why I ask is because I've been in the dental field for 13 yrs now and some people tend to mix up partials and full dentures. Sorry about being long winded, but here goes (if you have full dentures)

Usually uppers people really don't have a problem with it's the lowers. The upper usually stays in place because of the shape of our palate. The lower not so good if you lack bone on your lower jaw the denture will move around on you because it doesn't really have anything to hold it in place . Most of the time I tell people about implants. Expensive option but well worth the investment . These implants hold the denture in place. If your missing all your teeth on the lower usually they place 2 implants in. They are kind of like an anchor and snap onto the denture. This keeps it in place and no messy and bad tasting pastes to hold them there

    Hope this answers your question
