Bro, actually it's not a waste of time. I presume you don't realise that people who memorize the quran by heart but do not know much arabic or another language actually earn more ajar than of a normal arab speaker who frequently goes to the mosque and memorizes. Reason being is because you generally have to try more hard because your memorizing something inunderstandable. But let's take people from Malaysia or India for example, who are quite famous for memorizing the Qur'an off by heart, half of them don't even understand Arabic but just know how to read and write, but after memorizing they begin to know the meanings and interpretations in depth in order to begin to understand what the Sura is about. And even then they might not know what they are saying. Subhanallah, so no i don't think it's a waste of time, it's a blessing. Ramdhan kareem.

Memorizing the Quran is NOT obligatory. But Memorizing the Quran can only be a blessing if you memorize with understanding.
It is truly dangerous to blindly memorize the Quran without comprehending or understanding what you are reading since it defeats the purpose of understanding God's message.
2:171 - The example of such disbelievers is that of parrots who repeat what they hear of sounds and calls, without understanding. Deaf, dumb, and blind; they cannot understand.

Bro, memorizing the Quran is not for everyone. I don't think I could memorize it. That's why it's a big deal for someone to be a hafiz. It's not a waste of time because of the blessings you receive for doing it.

Mashallah lil sis tat is such a cool idea, May Allah make it easy 4 u. Since my hubby is a Hafiz this is wat i would suggest 2 u: 1.The Makarij should be correct.(bringing out the correct alphabetic sounds as in Arabic). 2.It must be learnt with correct tajweed. 3.Read after a good Qari or a shiekh on a tape like (Sheikh Al Huzaifi, Imam of Masjid an Nabawi) He is one of the best in the world 2day May Allah give barakah in his life. 4.Revising wat u learnt during ur salahs or at Tahajud. 5. Learn with translation as it is more beneficial. 6. maintain a life of Taqwah as it will give u the true noor of the Quraan. 7. Make some one who knows Quraan well listen to wat u'v learnt at least once a month. *First Learn the Surahs which u need to recite in regular basis or recomeneded to learn by Rasulullah(s) due to the virtues it might have like Mulk, Sajdah, Kahf, Yaseen, Baqarah & ........ I pray this will help u inshallah.

no it is not a waste of time yeah yo are right we should learn arabic as a language as this would aid you more to undrstanding thew quraan
but rememebr the quran was revealed in arbic and our fitrah inside of us connects with the quraan so subconciesiouly we understand it
memrising it was a way of not being destroyed as even if every quraan in the world was destroyed it is sill in the heart of ppl and can be pased onto ohers so the message nd allah words are never lost

Salam,
How are you brother? How can you think it's a waste of time? you are memorizing book of Allah, if you don't memorize the book of Allah then how would you perform prayers or Tarwih? Scientifically, it is proven that the people who memorize Quran, their brains are stronger than the people who don't memorize the Quran. If you don't memorize the Quran then i don't think you would be able to perform Tarawih and most importantly Allah LOVE those who memorize the Quran.
I hope I helped

a waste of time?? The Quaran is what ALLAH has SAID. It is proof that hasn't been changed that those EXACT words came out of his mouth. Do you know how much you would learn if you read and understood it?

As far as I know 'Kaur' means princess in Punjabi. The title Kaur is used by Punjabi women only. I am not sure whether Men use this title.
