September 1st roster?

Ok, so on Sept 1, the teams can expand their roster. However, anyone who is not on the roster prior to that dat is not eligible for postseason, right? Assuming I understand that correctly, what happens IF the Rays make it to the postseason? Are they going in with only 4 starting pitchers since Sonannastine wasn't added until Sept 1?

No, since Soannastine was on the roster before September 1 (before he was demoted) he is therefore eligible

Players must be on a team's 25-man roster as of August 31 to be eligible for post-season play. The only exception is that a player on the 60-day disabled list may be replaced by another player from the team's 40-man roster (as of August 31) who plays the same position.

Most teams go with 4 starting pitchers in the post season anyway.

Yes, the roster now changes to 40 meaning they promote a player to the team. and it will be a 4 man starting rotation because sonannastine was added late and only played a month in the mlb.

Actually, Sonnanstine was called up before the rosters expanded, so he will pitch in the postseason (if the Rays make it)
