Pharmacy v.s. Pharmacology v.s. Pharm Tech. I need to decided between the three and I need some help?

I want to go into Pharmacy but I don't really know much about the three careers so I would like to get a detailed explanation on one, two, or all three of them.

I would like to do something on the side like Media in the future, so if you could please include the flexibility of schedule and salary, that would be awesome. THanks

Talking about the UK, don't know if things are the same or similar where you live: Pharmacy is usually studied as a 5 years course (1 of which is work experience). You get the degree MPharm (a Masters degree) and with it you can open up a pharmacy or work in someone else's pharmacy (and I don't know what else). For pharmacology you will start doing a bachelors degree (BSc) which is done in 3, maybe 4 years. With the pharmacology degree you can find jobs in laboratories doing research (and I don't know what else). Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of pharmacists to fill prescriptions, etc. For this job you recieve on-the-job training; I think there are no certifications needed to get this job, although I guess a degree in a relevant subject would help. To compare the subjects covered in pharmacy and those covered in pharmacology, pharmacy has more chemistry while I think pharmacology goes deeper into biology. I don't know about the hours you will work but I think for pharmacists and pharmacologists the schedule would be more strict, while for pharm technicians it would be more flexible. As of salary, I know that pharmacists usually take very good money, while pharmacologists and pharm technicians might take less, though not bad. Personally I would worry less about the money though and more about how I would enjoy (or not mind) to spend a lot of time doing. I hope this information help as starting points for you to research and clarify what you want to do.
