This question is not very clear and it's missing key information, such as what type of pc you have and so on.

Sorry but itunes is the only program that works with ipods, period.

You would be wasting more time searching for anything other than itunes, seriously! That's why they have not work and will not work.

Try a new usb cable and the usb port on the back of your tower, the ones near the power supply are faster. Remove itunes again via add and remove programs, then go back onto apples website and download the most recent itunes version again and retry one more time. If it still fails, then I would suspect your pc, and you need to troubleshoot it. Once you have completed these steps, then you take it from there and contact apple tech support, but they will first tell you to try all these tips probably again, Trouble shooting is a systematic process of elimination to hone in on the misbehaving software or even hardware. Later, when your calmer and can finally get itunes open, try this below:

Once your itunes recognizes your ipod then Restore the ipod, if you can..if that fails contact apple.

Sounds like this ipod was JAILBROKEN which is HACKED and so its not an ipod at all! and is not under any apple warranty at all..

OR it could be that you have not entered the password correctly and it s been disabled (this is most likely) it needs to connect to a full power USB port on a computer to be restored for this.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.

    but it could be

.. or this because you are either having a driver conflict error as detailed in the apple help page:-

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 for driver errors and http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369 for USB power issues

or more likely its a USB power issue. Make sure you have a full power USB connection (many laptops and keyboard connectors only give 100mA max rather than the full 500mA, also do not connect via an unpowered hub either as this only PARTLY charges the ipod

connect it direct to the computer on a full power USB port or via a powered hub (mains transformer connected to it) and it should be OK.

Leave it charging on this for at least an hour before proceeding further.

make sure you have the latest itunes 8.2.0 (downloaded on your PC from www.apple.com/itunes/download then restart PC first)

and reset the ipod before connection (menu and centre key till screen blanks then connect once it lights up).

the say YES to the 'pair with this computer' Message

if after doing the USB power check you still have problems you need to call apple for a swap for replacement... as batteries can be killed by improper usage apple has a page at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1726 that tells you how to get the most from your battery

This somewhat relies upon on the size of the information which you're importing, and the working time of the music. working example, in case you have a ton of songs that are 20+ minutes long, then you definately would desire to basically have the potential to greater healthful approximately 4 hundred or so songs of that length. additionally, do no longer ignore that the OS of the ipod takes up some million GB, and different issues soak up 110MB. So good out of the field, you have basically approximately 6.89 GB to artwork with. standard length songs (approximately 4 minutes long) are basically approximately 3 MB each and every, so which you will desire to have the potential to greater healthful approximately 1500-1600 songs on those. do no longer ignore which you will desire to leave some room for apps, so which you would be able to basically choose for to place approximately 1000 songs on. it extremely is definitely your decision however.
