Vania KIng?? Holy....?

King beat Stosur! How the heck? I thought Stosur woud demolish the WTT star. A total shocker. I thought sam would go far with that huge serve and groundstrokes. Did anyone see the match? Things just got a bit easier for my girl Serena. =). Do you think Vania will finally start go deeper into tourneys or was this a fluke win?

Well Stosur did hit more than 20 errors and she made 58 in the first round so there is definitely something wrong which is really disappointing seeing how great she was in the US hardcourt season. She could potentially have made the quarterfinals because she had a good shot at Serena Williams and she would have beaten Hantuchova pretty easily.

This was really a fluke win because the result was in Stosur's hands and if it wasn't for those errors, King wouldn't have survived. Even Vania expected to lose the match. This might be pretty immature but i hope Vania gets crushed by Hantuchova. And were the linesman in that match 90 year olds. Just at the start of the match, Stosur had to challenge two calls against Vania that was clearly out. Challenging calls are very distracting to players and that could be the thing that distracted Stosur.

Good luck with doubles Stosur but i'm guessing she will lose that too with more unforced errors.

A complete surprise. I am well versed on the lower ranked players winning titles(Rybarikova, for instance. I remember her winning her 1st career title this year.), but I don't remember Vania King's one title on tour. That tells you where she's been. Samantha looked quite shaky on serve in the 1st set, and I guess Vania took advantage and every time she got tight and gave her break lead away in the 2nd set, she got it back, even in the last game when she faced break point. Hopefully, for her, it's the start of some good play for a long time. As for her next match, she has a chance aga

I watched most of the match; she was playing out of her mind the entire time, it was amazing. I think the commentators and everyone watching was waiting for her level to go down but it never did. Stosur actually didn't play that badly, especially in the 2nd set, but she was just overwhelmed by King's extraordinary play and was pressured to go for too much as the match wore on. I can't believe she won in straight sets, let alone beat Stosur, who has been great this year.

I thought Vania did great seeing how we really don't have any good women's players besides the Williams sisters from the US. King is young as well so hopefully she'll have a great run.

Hantuchova isn't exactly consistant so i think it'll go to three sets, but the winner is up in the air.

Stosur definately didn't play her best so it was dissapointing

  • I think she'll lose to Hantuchova next round.
