Our house is going into foreclosure.Back taxes are owed.Can the mortg.co.take all our property?

We received a letter from our mortgage lender stating that if we don't pay the back taxes on this home and they have to, they will garnish our pay checks and come after us for all personal property that we have to reimberse them for the taxes. Can they legally do this? If we could afford to pay them we would have!  We live in PA.

Not exactly.  If you don't pay your property tax (not the IRS) for 2 years, a stranger is allowed to pay your taxes for you.  This is not a gift. They get a receipt.
If you don't pay up for 5 straight years, the stranger can hire an attorney and go to court to get the deed to your house. The law figures that someone who doesn't pay tax for 5 years can not really call themselves the "owner" any more. You have to pay your tax.
If the stranger pays for 7 years, she doesn't have to hire an attorney. She only pays $85 and gets a deed to your house. The mortgage is wiped out.
That is why the mortgage company is so worried. They can lose everything because you are not paying the tax. So they will pay the tax.  But they also have to wait the 5 years to get the deed.

Yes they can.  They have said all personal property?  That means cars, furniture, appliances, jewelry...in effect every thing you own, just to pay back taxes on the home.  Plus they are foreclosing on your home.  You are in really deep chit.

In short, Yes they can.. Come up with the back taxes or you will lose your home over that..
