Car keeps turning off!?!? CAR TROUBLE,HELP PLEASE!?
Hi,my name is Erica and I have a 1997 Ford Contour SE (56,000 miles)
And for some reason, recently, the car keeps turning off at random times, usually after 15 min. of driving, then it wont turn back on,SOMETIMES it will turn back on but only randomly....Any ideas what could be the reason? Mechanics have told me it could either be because of old cables,or the crank sensor,or chem sensor...
HELP PLEASE! REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE IT!!!
if you could also tell me the cost to replace whichever you think it is would be a BIG help!
This problem has just started occurring recently and never had any trouble like this before.
(and the check engine light but it says its because of a vaccum leak)
also, the check engine light has been on since i first got the car,and ive never had the problem with the car turning off before
sorry,i dont think its called chem sensor,i think its called cam sensor.
so mechanics have told me it could be
- old wires or cables that are bad
- cam sensor
- crank sensor

Sounds like an intermittent connection. I would start by having the battery terminals cleaned and tightened. The see how the car does.

A vacuum leak can cause this. It could come from a bad vacuum hose, cheap to fix, or many other expensive defects, such as a leaking manifold. Somebody who knows what to look for will be able to discover the actual problem by examining the car and none of us in this forum are him. Hold it up there in the light... I can't see it at all. Shine that light over to the left... no,I still can't see it at all.

This all began once you replaced the Mass air circulate sensor perfect? Did you circulate purchase a clean one from Nissian, or get a rebuilt one from a areas homestead , or did you circulate to a junk backyard and get a "used " one? in case you probably did the final one to procure the incorrect one the black smoke is an illustration of thank you to plenty gas contained in the combustion chambers , the Mass air circulate sensor senses the quantity of air it quite is getting to the engine and tell the ecm to the two richen or lean the mixture like the O2 it facilitates administration the gas mixture the o2 tells the ecm how plenty air is present after Combustion tha Mass air tells it how plenty gas is would desire to run the engine. the incorrect mass air can unquestionably supply the ECM fake info ensuing in you guessed it black smoke.
