Proper Clothes washing?

Is better to wash whites in hot or cold water? Also, should I be washing my darks in hot water?

Whites can be washed in hot and darks should be washed in warm/cool. Color tends to fade if you wash them in hot water I believe.

I like to wash most things in warm. Whites, especially all cotton do well in hot but hot can set stains in some fabrics. Cold water for all darks will keep the dyes from coming out and staining other fabrics. It will keep the darks from fading too. It works best to use detergent that says it is for cold water.

White clothes are usually washed in Hot but I live where its hot so the warm water is hot. Color clothes I wash in warm, most people probably use hot. Delicate use cold gentle cycle.
