Can my landlord evict me if my bathroom is dirty?

My landlord came in my apartment and said my bathroom was too dirty and that if she sees it like that again, she will evict us. Can she do that? It was only some towels on the floor and some soap scum in the shower.

Update:

I live in Hawaii.

She always just comes in.

She is always on us for something, once she gave me this big speech about not respecting Hawaii because i'm from Texas.

No, she cannot evict you for that. Many landlords are power mad and like to try to control their tenant's every move with threats. If she tries to evict you illegally then fight her in court.

Also, She cannot just come in when ever she wants to. She must give you 24 hrs notice.

Be careful. It sounds like you have a landlord that either does not know the laws or does not care.

EDIT: OG- NO they CANNOT! They have to have legal grounds to evict.

    no they can't

but the bigger problem is that she just comes in.

She has NO right to enter the property, even with notice unless said notice is outlined in the lease agreement; or there is a emergency. You have a leasehold ownership and she must respect this. So the next time she wants to come into the property. Just say NO. Even if you rent a room, she has NO right to enter.

Number 1 she can't just come into your apartment without giving advance notice, usually 24 hours. He can evict for any or no reason at all by giving you 30 days notice. Towels on the floor should be of no concern, but soap scum build up bd enough that she could see it is sloppy housekeeping and tenants do get evicted for that

whilst renting a house or an condominium you may desire to consistently have a walk via with a approved representive from that company. If the condo assets strengthen into so grimy i could recommend them to place this on the lower back of my settlement stateing they're going to sparkling the ensures and so on. Then in the event that they do no longer prefer to bathe it i could hire some to bathe it and deliver them the bill. additionally by making use of having a walk via you write down damages, stains on carpet, products are not any fault of yours. Then get them to sign your checklist and so on. on the top of your settlement they could come back and make you pay damages that strengthen into already there. This got here approximately to me and that i strengthen into on a 25 year lease in a commercial construction. jpc

Generally no, but if you are month to month, or at the end of your lease, she can give you a 30 day notice to quit and just end your rental agreement.

I agree with the others - sounds like she is on a power trip.

If she says something like that again, just ask her politely where it says this in the lease.

no she can not. there are specific reasons they can evict you and having a messy bathroom is not one of them.. If you are violating health board, then that is one thing. Also, she can't JUST kick you out without issuing a warning first.

    what state are you in?

edit to add: don't let your landlord bully you either...she sounds like she is on a powertrip ..

what was she doing in the suite without giving notice?

SHE was the one that broke the lease, not you.

read your lease, normally a landlord can not make entry into a suite without giving 24 hrs notice, except in an emergency...

also read your lease regarding cleaning.... if a clean bathroom is not specifically mentioned in the lease, she is way way waaaaaaaaaaaaay over the line....
