    I MAJORED IN COMPUTERESE!!

    Anyway, a tag is metadata that describes an item so it may be found grouped with items with similar or identical tags.

    In HTML a tag is a symbolic beginnig of an instruction which must be processed.

    eg: <table> is a tag and this tells the web browser to construct a table.

    a tag is basically a thing that helps ppl find whatever u tagges in the search bar.. so if u put. food as a tag... and when a person puts anything with the word food in the search bar... they can fid whatever u posted thats tagged food
