Bright star in the sky?
I've been seeing a really bright star in the sky recently. It's fairly close to the moon from where I see it. I heard from a few people that it's venus???
If so, how frequently is it visible? If not, what star/planet is it?
btw. I'm in Toronto, ON.
(:
*I know jupiter and venus are planets..even though I may barely know anything about astronomy. I said "star"cause the planet visible looked like one.
Thanks guys though!

That is Jupiter in the early evening sky.
Venus is the very bright star in the early morning sky.
Both these will slowly drift to other parts of the sky over the next weeks and months and years as these planets orbit the Sun at different speeds.

It is Jupiter. If you get around 5 am and look to the east you will see an even brighter planet, Venus.

actual after sundown interior the west? that may not a action picture star. it truly is the planet Venus. it isn't the massive call Sirius, as some here have advised you. Sirius is on your south and IS a action picture star. examine it out with a telescope...in case you will discover it as a disk or partial disk (it is going with the aid of stages like the moon and can look crescent formed.) If with the aid of a telescope it nevertheless looks like an exceptionally fantastic action picture star, than it in all probability is a enormous call. extra beneficial than possibly however, it is Venus.
