When I first got into makeup, I went for ELF as one of my top brands that were best priced. To help you with that, I have to say that the reason MAC is so famous and so highly regarded is because of its amazing quality and best assortment of colors.

Now, what I will say is that their studio line brushes (or most of them) are AMAZING. The $1 ones.. not so much. I don't suggest you buy those, because those are probably the worst quality brushes I have ever used. The brow and lash comb isn't so bad because they are typically the same everywhere, and the eyeshadow brushes are considerable, but I'd stick to the studio line, which is just so much better quality for so less. For the kabuki brush, I can't give you much information on that, but so far, the studio line brushes have not disappointed, and I think it would be fine (if not incredibly soft!)

Now, as for their $1 lip products- I actually really like some of them. Their colors do fade, but that's just something all lip products do. I own a whole bunch, and I have to say that the liquid lipstick is my favorite. I would suggest veering away from the glossy lip shine, though. I was thoroughly disappointed with those.

ALL of their eyeshadow products, whether from the studio, mineral, or $1 line, are very, very shimmery and have huge amounts of sparkle to them, including the cream products. I personally like that, but do not go there if you're looking for matte.

The eyeliners are horrible. PERIOD. There is nothing for me to say.

    So are the mascaras.

Their $1 face products are fishy to me. I have sensitive skin, and I feel like they clog up my pores. Not only that, but the pressed powder products are not at all pressed. Its as messy as mineral makeup.

Their nail products are very thin, and very watery. I bought two and instantly regretted it. Not only that, but after I took it off with remover, my nails came out yellow underneath. UGH.

Onto the minerals: I own most of their products save for their bronzer. Foundation is just like a normal mineral foundation, and its matte. However, finding your skin tone is really hard. They don't have a lot of intermediates, and they most likely won't have your color. However, the quality is actually really nice, so if you feel like gambling a little money, go for it.

Concealer is pretty much just like the foundation. It doesn't conceal anything.

I really like the booster! It just keeps everything on your face.

Blushes are really nice too. The quality and size are pretty amazing. I really like them. Just be careful about controlling the amount you use, because the packaging isn't great for that.

Eye shadows, like I said, are very shimmery and won't stay on without primer. However, very high quality. I love them!

Lip gloss is just lip gloss. Nothing special. A little thicker and a little more pigmented, but the quality doesn't seem to be changed.

Same for their lip stick. Its just like a normal lip stick.. If you can find the right color.

Next is their studio line. I don't own very much from here, but I can give you what I think of the ones I do have. To get a real idea on what they're like, just YouTube reviews. Most of them are pretty on target.

I own quite a few of the brushes and, again, they are great! Every single one of them!

The gel liner and shadow stick is HORRENDOUS. Worst ELF product, PERIOD. They are not at all smooth, they come off the minute you touch it even with primer, and they are just a horrible mess!

Last of all is the mini makeup collection. To keep it short, the only worthwhile products are the lip products. They are so great and diversified! A little goes a long way, and reminds me of a lip stain. They give so much color and last so long!

Brow powder, blush, and bronzer are bad, bad, bad for your face. I broke out all over my cheeks when I applied it. They reminded me of powdered wax. -_- They make the $1 face products look good. -_- Not only that, but the brow powder was not suitable for me. It comes in a dark brown, and looks like poop on your forehead. The only good things were the colors of the blush. It was so pretty! A bit shimmery, but it was a light pink with a hint of gold, so it would have been weird without the shimmer. However, bad quality.

The eye shadows are nasty. The cream one is... nothing special. I don't tend to use it. The powdered ones do not blend at all. Once applied, they are anchored to your face!

Truthfully, I just don't like any of the "collection" products, products that were made to be in a little... all-in-one kit, if you will, like this mini make-up collection or the beauty encyclopedia. They are not great quality.

Like the blotting sheets. :) Nothing special though. Cheap?

A lot of the colors on the site are a little off in real life, so be careful when choosing. You might have been looking for a nice nude and end up with a shocking orange.

In the end, ELF has a lot of hits and a lot of misses. I can

I recently just tried some ELF cosmetics and some are good, some aren't. I like their mineral eyeshadows...they are very pigmented. I also like the mineral lipstick, however, it dries out my lips so I have to use a lip balm or something under it. I also tried the studio line eyeshadow and I love it. It's a soft shadow and very pigmented. The thing I did not like was the complexion perfection powder. I think it made me break out. My skin has been pretty good lately but a day or two after trying it, I got bumps on my face. I stopped using it and will probably not use it again. Overall, it's a cheap alternative to brands like Bare Minerals and MAC.

I love ELF products, but some are hit and miss. I recommend reading the user reviews before ordering anything, they will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about the cosmetic you're thinking about buying.

Yes, it has been around for a while now and it has been tested by different makeup artists. They all thought it was good quality especially the brushes. I am planning to buy it too. You know they also sell it in Burlington Coat Factory(not everything though).

I personally don t think ELF is a good brand. I bought one of their makeup sets and didn t like any of the products. The highlighter and bronzer didn t come off on the brush at all, they sent the wrong eyeshadows, and the eyeliner pencil isn t very pigmented. However, I heard from my friend that the primers and clear mascara are great. I d just check all the customer reviews in the website, especially because they don t do returns, refunds, etc.
