How can you bring older relatives from another country for a visit?

My husband would like to bring his grandparents who live in Guatemala to visit here in the United States. Can anyone tell us what would be the first step into getting the proper documents together, and where do we go to do this? Thanks for your help.

they need to apply to get a visa and they'll also need a passport. They need to do this in their own country and in person

Definitely the first step is to apply for a US Visa, which they can do in the Embassy of United States in Guatemala. Once they approve the visa for them there should be no problem... If it's only for visit. The embassy's website is http://spanish.guatemala.usembassy.gov/

Lolita is right. If they just want to come and visit, you need to get them to apply for a visa at the US Embassy in Guatemala CIty.

Hopefully both of you are either US Residents or US CItizens. THe EMbassy officials will ask what ties these people have in the USA.
