    Neither.

We're born as blank slates, and we allow our surroundings to dictate whether or not we become "good" or "bad" (For example, family, where you are brought up, people you associate with, etc).

Source(s): Had a huge debate in AP English about this.

Define good. Define bad. It's all subjective. It's all a balance. I think that most people interpret selfishness as bad, but is it really? It's simply the primitive need to preserve yourself and resources. Is it bad that I didn't share my Soda with you? Some will say yes, others will say no. But you have no obligation to recieve Soda from me.

I don't see the point of labeling something as good or bad, unless it causes detriment to the well-being of another human being. In that case, it's obviously univerally considered "bad," but still on a subjective scale.

babies are innocent. but their genes and environment interact to produce either 'good' or 'bad' people as they grow. some people have a desire to hurt, others to help.
