What to serve with baked beans and sausage?

My husband just called and said his friend was coming by this evening for dinner. I'm making baked beans with sausage, which would be plenty for just the two of us, but now I feel like I need to make something to go with it. Any suggestions?

Mom would have pan fried potatoes until they were crispy on the outside. Hash browns would work, too.

Cornbread would be great, sweet or not. Biscuits would be nice, too.

Fruit of some kind, maybe a fruit cup would be nice for a good contrast from the sausage.

If you are a breakfast in the evening person like me, Some baked banana nut or blueberry bread, or some french toast, stuffed or plain.

I would add sliced up green bell pepper and sliced red onions and saute it together with the sausage, then have some good sized bread rolls and soft butter on the side in case they want to just have that buttered roll with it or make a sandwich out of it, plus the bread also helps to really soak up that extra baked bean sauce from the plate instead of them licking the plate:-)

If they are like some guys, not talking about me of course, I would have a beer or two ready, and of course think of what you like.

Salad? Cole Slaw? Some sort of vegetable since you've got plenty of protein between the meat and beans. Or, you may also want to make a nice desert, if not both!

Besides tums and Gas/X some garlic toast and Strawberry Ice Cream.

A quick answer - think of it as a cooked breakfast. Serve with mushrooms, toast, fried egg and/or tomatoes.
