Has anyone ever heard of a doctor tell someone to use bowling gloves for arthritic hands?

My mother was diagnosed with RA, her doctor said bowling gloves may help her hands?

the support offered from the gloves may give her sore hands the added support and light pressure that may make her more comfortable.

RA is terribly painful and sometimes a little creativity can go along way, its like the stockings for veins to keep your legs from hurting, I am sure whoever was the first to try it thought it was a silly idea too until it worked!
