Auburn University (in AL) has a huge equine program. They also have an equestrian team, which I believe is NCAA. It is very competitive as well as very strenuous, from what I have been told. I'm not sure of the details of their equine science program/other equine degrees, but you can easily find out.

Judson College in Marion, AL also has an equine science program. It is a very small, Baptist-affiliated, all-women's school. The equestrian team is very small; they compete with IHSA (so owning your own horse is not required; you aren't even allowed to ride your own horse in lessons or show your own horse). They offer an equine science minor and also allow you to get an interdisciplinary major incorporating equine science (equine-assisted therapy, equibusiness, equine journalism, etc.). A brand new covered arena was just completed last year; a new barn is in the works. Many of the riders are beginners who start in walk-trot and who haven't ridden before college; others have years of experience. They offer both western and huntseat teams as well as lessons/classes in either discipline for non-team-members. You can email (message) me directly for more information on this one.

Mississippi College in Clinton, MS has a brand new equestrian (IHSA) team--huntseat only. I can give you more details on this as well through private message. Last year was the first year; they sent one rider to nationals. They ride and train out of a super fancy barn outside of Clinton with top notch horses. Many of the riders on the team are beginners. The school does not offer an equine science program. Non-team members can take riding classes as a PE credit.

In Georgia, there are multiple colleges with equine science programs/equestrian teams. Check out University of Georgia, Berry College (in Rome, GA), and North Georgia College (these are simply the ones I'm familiar with through IHSA competition; there may be others). In Tennessee, Middle TN State University is a huge one.

Source(s): I live in MS, went to college in AL (twin sister went to college in MS), started off as an equine science minor, competed in IHSA for several years

Auburn is one. Just google using the key words, University, college, Equine Science, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Alabama. See what comes up. If you are near a border with another state, check out those states as well. You might find something closer if you don't mind paying out of state fees. I bet you will find something.

Personally i dont care if in case you have a measure or aprenticed below a few one its all approximately what your equipped of doing, who you labored below, and your revel in. I feel going to school to come to be a horse teacher relatively is a waist of time and cash while you'll be able to move and aprentice below a teacher and get extra palms on revel in and revel in extra matters then you definately often could at tuition. I simply dont recognize why i will have to pay $7,000+ a 12 months while i will be able to move paintings below a teacher without cost and get ore palms on studying studies. I appeared into faculties and determined that it simply wasnt correct for me and ended up going to do a aprenticeship and now I have a role with with the teacher, and nonetheless keep my studying.
