Yoga and meditation. Visualization exercises. Prayer is also good.

What is it that you take and for what? E-mail me, maybe I can help. I was on medication for deep depression. It did not help. E-mail me. and I will also tell you about it. If you want to.

We could be more accurate if we knew what form of mental illness. Thee are so many differing treatments that what is good for one situation could cause unparalleled harm in another situation.

There is something called "Milan Therapy" [my spelling could be a bit off here as I haven't assisted in any groups for years]. If you can find a therapist who has trained in it...it works well for many busy people. You meet once a year! It isn't a miracle cure, but it does give you the support many need.

This isn't "fad" therapy as it has been around for many years. It doesn't try to fix everything. It simply says..."we start here. Now what do you need to get through the year..." This is over simplified, but you get te idea. As I said, it would be better if we knew the illness we are trying to help.

There are lots of options. Meditation is good, also biofeedback. Belief in God and being active in a church has been shown to be effective in relieving the symptoms of depression. Exercise is good. Chinese herbal medicine. Acupuncture has had some success against some types of mental illness. Find a good chiropractor/acupuncturist, the results might be surprising. Make sure you get enough vitamins, especially B vitamims.

Yep. There isn't a medical pill to fix my brain. I have noticed my brain is a musle and I need to exercise it through basic meditation to calm down both my brain and body and litterly will out the overwhelming negatism and bs. I'm new to this self proscribed treatment but have noticed a more solid foundation that lies within.

Electroshock treatment works for some mental illnesses.

Aroma therapy, soft music, candlelight. It wont directly treat the illness, but it will help you relax and make life more tolerable.

Daily Affirmations. Just look in a mirror every morning and say "I'm smart. I'm good looking. And doggonit, people like me."
