why are people homophobic?

Rolyn thinks that ordinary decent people are homophobes, gay pride is about equality and he doesn't condemn heteros who 'flaunt it'

many people hate/fear what they don't understand

a lot visit to troll here or to promote an evil religious agenda

Rolyn also ignores that many heteros are sexual in public and enjoy anal

Im straight and most of my best freinds are gay. I also drink in a gay pub...if other people have a problem with that well thats their problem NOT mine!. I put it down to a few things. Firstly...shear igorance, then a close second is because they think they are being funny at someone elses expense...they have a sad life and want to be accepted as a "funny person" who makes people laugh when socialising. And thirdly, I thinks they do it because they think its what society expects them to be like. If only people were not so narrow minded and get on worrying about other, more important issues in life it would be a much happier world for all of us. There is no need for this so why do it?

Because they are afraid of difference, or change.

And are very ignorant and close minded.

Ppl are racist because they are of different color.

Ppl are sexist because they are of different sexes.

This is the 21st century and ppl are still having trouble with acceptance. Ever since forever people have tried so hard to fight those that are out of society's "norms".

There's no need for the rude comments, ppl always say if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. They just have too much time on their hands, and they use it to hate.

A block or penalty button sounds like a good idea.

maybe it disturbs their ideas of religion. They probably think that God made people straight, and seeing gay people makes them doubt their own beliefs. But some people are just mean, and will degrade others to make them feel better about themselves. Some people focus on every little thing about others and thus people being gay will also be a big deal to them. they need hobbies, and a different outlook. its their problem, not yours.

Because some people are trapped in a little place called the dark ages.

Whether gay people like it or not, there are still a very large number of ordinary,decent people who find the idea of a man sticking his todger up another man's anus disgusting. They also find two men kissing and fondling in public nauseating.

If homosexuals kept their sex-lives private and stopped cavorting around on gay pride marches and stuff, people wouldn't mind them so much.

The fact that homosexuality has been around for centuries (so has bestiality and paedophilia) doesn't make it OK to flaunt in public. Keep it for your bedroom.

Many people feel like this but many don't dare say it out loud for fear of being insulted, called 'homophobic' bigot' etc.

Everyone has a right to their opinion....just wait, this answer will be given many thumbs-down and perhaps reported (it was reported but YA! in their wisdom re-instated it)...so much for tolerance towards other people's opinions.

Blocking someone's opinion because they don't agree with you is reminiscent of totalitarian regimes like Hitler's, Stalin's and Mao-Tse-Tung's.

Holding hands is OK (better than heteros shagging)....but no snogging PLEASE!!

People who don't accept homosexuality are often those who are either stuck in their phallic stage and have grown up immature, or simply do not agree.

Although the ones that comment on people's status's making such remarks are most likely the first.

the point is phobic, an irrational fear of something.

I am arachnophobic for no reason other than it scares me and there is nothing I can do about it, however I get someone to put them outside as I don't want them to die because I have an irrational fear.

These people can not help themselves basically put them outside and let them live on being creepy elsewhere

People are homophobic because many people are nervous about things they do not understand. People who grow up in very conservative families may never hear about homosexual reltionships/people until they are in their teens, and by this time, they already think they know about the world, so this new information seems wrong to them. Most people who learn about same-sex relationships when they are young are less homophobic.
